STATEMENT FROM DEMAND JUSTICE PRESIDENT JOSH ORTON ON DEMOCRATIC SENATORS VOTING TO CONFIRM TRUMP JUDGE TO LIFETIME FEDERAL JUDGESHIP
Washington, DC –Today, Senators Coons, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Heinrich, Kaine, Kelly, King, Klobuchar, Reed, Schiff, Shaheen, Welch, & Whitehouse joined Republicans in confirming to the federal bench Harold Mooty III, who won Trump’s approval by refusing to say he lost the 2020 election or clearly stating what happened on January 6, 2021.
Earlier this month, Demand Justice launched a six-figure ad campaign calling out Senators Durbin, Coons, Klobuchar and Whitehouse for their inexcusable votes to advance Trump’s judicial nominees who also failed to be honest about the 2020 election and January 6th.
In response, Demand Justice President Josh Orton released the following statement:
“Trump is weaponizing the Department of Justice and illegally invading states with the national guard, yet Senate Democratic caucus members Coons, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Heinrich, Kaine, Kelly, King, Klobuchar, Reed, Schiff, Shaheen, Welch, & Whitehouse, are somehow still choosing to vote for his crony judicial nominees – nominees who won Trump’s approval by refusing to tell the truth about January 6th and the 2020 election. It’s both unconscionable and unbelievable that these Democratic Senators are making it easier for Trump to trample the rule of law by installing federal judges who have sworn loyalty to him over the Constitution. It’s wrong, and it must end.”
