WASHINGTON, DC— Following the Senate Judiciary Committee vote on Dale Ho’s nomination to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Demand Justice Chief Counsel Christopher Kang released the following statement:

“Dale Ho is now one step closer to bringing his brilliant legal mind and deep commitment to American democracy to the federal bench. Unsurprisingly, Republicans repeated the kind of bad-faith attacks they always level against nominees of color who have championed voting and civil rights. As if Republicans supporting Brett Kavanaugh then opposing another nominee by attacking his temperament were not laughable enough, Dale Ho’s strong bipartisan support and his sterling credentials make it clear that these attacks are really about opposing any nominee who has stood up for voting rights. We look forward to Ho’s swift confirmation.”

Ho has been endorsed by a bipartisan group of lawyers, including a Republican-appointed judge to the New York Court of Appeals, a Republican-appointed Texas Supreme Court justice, and Republican Supreme Court litigator Carter Phillips.

Demand Justice previously announced a six-figure ad campaign to educate the public about Ho’s strong credentials and commitment to protecting democracy for all Americans regardless of party.
