SUPREME COURT EXTREMISTS ENGAGE IN BLATANT POWER GRAB BY OVERTURNING CHEVRON
Washington, DC–Following the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to overturn Chevron and end judicial deference to federal agencies, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement:
“This rogue Court is power hungry, issuing decisions that empower industry and political interests by consolidating power in the courts instead of the elected branches of government that are designed to be the most responsive to the needs of everyday Americans. Instead of leaving policy decisions up to trained experts, the Supreme Court’s far-right faction thinks that judges and justices are better suited for the job.
“This decision will have real consequences for the health and well-being of every person in our country.
“For the future of our nation and our democracy, Congress must act to implement reforms and checks on the judiciary–it is long past time that we rein in these politicians in robes. The job of a Supreme Court justice should be one in service to the public, not extreme special interests.”
