Statement from Demand Justice President Josh Orton on Seven Democratic Senators Voting to Confirm Jan 6 Denier Two Days After Jan 6 Anniversary

Washington, DC –Today, seven Democratic Senators voted to confirm Donald Trump’s judicial nominee Alexander Van Hook to a federal district court in Louisiana – despite Van Hook’s refusal to be honest about what happened on January 6th, and who won the 2020 election.
Senators Durbin, Hassan, Kaine, King, Klobuchar, Shaheen, and Welch voted to give a lifetime judgeship to someone who refused to acknowledge the violence of January 6th.
In response, Demand Justice President Josh Orton released the following statement:
“Just two days after the 5th anniversary of the January 6th attack, seven Democrats voted to give a lifetime judgeship to a nominee who refused to tell the truth about what happened on that infamous day. These Democrats tweeted and posted about marking the anniversary and condemning the violence; yet only two days later, not one of them chose to stand up to Trump and his crony judges. It is simply unacceptable.”
