Washington, D.C.— In response to the results of the election, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan issued the following statement:

“Vice President Harris ran a campaign dedicated to justice, equality, and fairness. She and Governor Tim Walz would have continued the critical work carried out over the last four years to protect our rights and freedoms, including bringing balance and fairness to our courts.

“However, given the outcome of the election, the reality is that we now have a rapidly closing window to confirm well-qualified, fair-minded judges who will protect our rights and serve as one of the last guardrails in upholding our nation’s laws and the Constitution. As Vice President Harris said yesterday, ‘This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is the time to roll up our sleeves.’  

“Even one judge can make a difference.

“We don’t have a minute to lose. Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats must act now.”
