When picking judges, presidents of both parties have turned primarily to corporate lawyers and prosecutors. What impact does that have on our courts and the cases they hear? This report finds that former corporate lawyers and prosecutors are significantly more likely than other types of lawyers to rule against workers as judges. This is the first study to evaluate whether judges from corporate backgrounds rule differently, and it suggests that changing who gets nominated to be a judge could change the balance in our legal system.
