DEMAND JUSTICE STATEMENT REGARDING BERNIE SANDERS’ CALL FOR REFORMING SUPREME COURT INTO PANEL OF ROTATING JUDGES

WASHINGTON, DC—Demand Justice Executive Director Brian Fallon issued the following statement Monday after Senator Bernie Sanders announced at the We The People Summit that he would support reforming the Supreme Court by adapting it into a panel of rotating judges:

“As Sanders’ proposal shows, there is a growing consensus in the Democratic Party now that the Supreme Court must be reformed. The only remaining debate is how to best reform it. No one is any longer defending the status quo of just letting the Roberts Court block progressive priorities for the next 30 years. Progressive activists have awakened to the danger posed by Trump’s packing of the courts, and Democratic candidates for president now see they need a plan to respond to this crisis.”
