NEW DEMAND JUSTICE AD SLAMS GOP FOR RUSHED BARRETT CONFIRMATION AMID COVID-19 CRISIS
TV Spot To Air in AZ, CO, IA, NC and on National Cable as Part of Ongoing Multi-Million Dollar Buy
WASHINGTON, DC — On Saturday, Demand Justice debuted a new national television ad slamming Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell for exacerbating the Coronavirus crisis while rushing through a lifetime Supreme Court appointment.
The ad will air as part of a previously announced multi-million dollar ad campaign opposing the confirmation of Trump’s pick before the election. One image in the ad reads, “Trump and McConnell: risking lives to rush someone onto the Supreme Court,” while another features a quote from Dr. Anthony Fauci calling Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination announcement at the White House Rose Garden a “superspreader event.”
A copy of the ad’s script appears below:
Narrator: The virus is surging, spreading everywhere. Washington is a red zone. The commander in chief, senators, secret service agents, staff, infected. But Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell will stop at nothing to jam through a lifetime Supreme Court appointment, failing to stop the spread across the country, super-spreader events in Washington, crowded hearings making it worse. Tell Congress, don’t let Trump and McConnell rush someone into a lifetime spot on the Supreme Court.
“The Republican decision to prioritize this Supreme Court nomination ahead of COVID relief is highly unpopular with the public, and we will continue to make sure these senators feel pressure for putting lives at risk in this way,” said Demand Justice Executive Director Brian Fallon.
