Momentum Grows in Movement Urging Facebook to Stop Subsidizing Right-Wing Federalist Society

70,000 Petition Signers Urge Facebook to Stop Funding the Organization Rehabilitating Kavanaugh’s Image

WASHINGTON, DC—In the aftermath of the Federalist Society’s gala dinner honoring Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, for which Facebook was a top-tier sponsor, progressive groups Center for Popular Democracy Action, CREDO, Demand Justice, MoveOn, UltraViolet, and Women’s March issued a joint statement Tuesday urging Facebook to stop funding an organization that supports a man credibly accused of sexual assault:

“We’re calling on Facebook to put respect for survivors over profiting from the pro-corporate rulings of Federalist Society judges. The Federalist Society’s celebration of Brett Kavanaugh was a direct attack on the dignity of survivors of sexual assault. Facebook should withdraw support from the Federalist Society and pledge not to give in the future.”

Petitions calling for Facebook to cut ties with the Federalist Society have garnered more than 70,000 signatures.
