Gillibrand, Merkley, Warren, Blumenthal To Help Kick Off All-Night Talk-a-thon

WASHINGTON, DC—With Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filing cloture on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, progressive groups and activists will hold a “People’s Filibuster” in front of the U.S. Capitol beginning 6:30 pm tonight to protest Kavanaugh.

The event will continue overnight and throughout Friday, when the Senate is expected to hold a critical vote on the nomination.

The event will feature remarks by U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and more. They will be joined by progressive advocates, sexual assault survivors and other activists who have been protesting the Kavanaugh nomination.

Participating organizations include Demand Justice, Center for American Progress, NARAL Pro-Choice America, MoveOn, Planned Parenthood, Indivisible, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, UltraViolet, Human Rights Campaign, Health Care Voter, #VOTEPROCHOICE, Common Cause, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Women’s Law Center, Women’s March, People For the American Way, Alliance for Justice Action Campaign, End Rape On Campus, Progressive Turnout Project, the League of Conservation Voters, Service Employees International Union, and Herd on the Hill.
