DEMAND JUSTICE TO HOST BOOKER, HARRIS, CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS AT EVENT TO OPPOSE TRUMP NOMINEE FARR
WASHINGTON, DC—Demand Justice will host U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson and other civil rights leaders for an event Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. to urge the Trump administration to withdraw the nomination of Thomas Farr.
Farr, Trump’s controversial pick to be the next federal judge in the Eastern District of North Carolina, has come under fire for his ties to racist organizations and history of involvement in voter suppression activities.
Farr was a top advisor to the late Sen. Jesse Helms’ reelection campaign that became the subject of a complaint by former President Bush’s Justice Department for sending a mailer to intimidate African American voters. Farr gave misleading testimony to the Senate about his role in the scheme, causing a former Justice Department investigator to publicly come forward and contradict him.
Demand Justice is currently airing a digital ad in eight states urging senators to oppose Farr.
