JUDICIARY ACT UPDATE: REP. RAÚL GRIJALVA JOINS AS 40th COSPONSOR

Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) has joined as a co-sponsor of the Judiciary Act of 2021, which would add four seats to the Supreme Court.

There are now 40 House co-sponsors on the bill, which was introduced by the Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA). The Senate companion bill is sponsored by Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and co-sponsored by Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN).

Rep. Grijalva is the 13th lawmaker to announce support for the Court expansion bill since the Supreme Court let the Texas abortion ban go into effect. He joins Sen. Smith and Reps. Bass (D-CA), Chu (D-CA) Cohen (D-TN), García (D-IL), Meng (D-NY), Napolitano (D-CA), Payne (D-NJ), Pingree (D-ME), Titus (D-NV), Waters (D-CA), and Wilson (D-FL).
