Judiciary Act Update: Rep Pascrell Announces Support for Supreme Court Expansion
Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) has announced his support for expanding the Supreme Court following the Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade on Friday.
He wrote: “Six rightwing judges, elected by no one, are taking a sledgehammer to the pillars of American life. Democracy is in peril. It’s obvious we must expand and balance the court.”
When Rep. Pascrell is added as a cosponsor, the Judiciary Act of 2021, sponsored by Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), will have 57 cosponsors in the House. In the Senate, the bill is supported by Sens. Ed Markey, Tina Smith, and Elizabeth Warren.
