‘Dissent is Patriotic’ Protest Gains Seven Co-Sponsoring Organizations

Activists will Gather at Supreme Court to Show Support for Justices Sotomayor and Ginsburg After Trump’s Attacks

WASHINGTON, DC—Seven progressive groups have signed on to co-sponsor Monday’s “Dissent is Patriotic” protest on Monday, March 2nd in solidarity with Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor.

CASA, Center for Popular Democracy Action, Demand Justice, Friends of the Earth, March for Our Lives, March for Our Lives DC, National Council of Jewish Women, and Women’s March will gather at the Supreme Court at 1pm to show support for the two justices after President Trump demanded they recuse themselves from cases he is involved in.

Earlier this week, Sotomayor wrote a dissenting opinion sounding the alarm about the Republican majority on the Supreme Court using their power to advance the Trump agenda. Shortly afterwards, Trump wrote tweets that belittled Sotomayor and Ginsburg and called on them to recuse themselves from all “Trump related matters.”
