Demand Justice Statement on Schumer’s “No Kings Act” Eliminating Presidential Immunity from Prosecution of Crimes

Washington, DC– Today, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the No Kings Act, a bill that would reverse the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity. In response, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan said the following:
“The vast majority of Americans, of all political stripes, believe our courts have become too powerful. The Supreme Court’s dangerous ruling on presidential immunity was just further proof that the public is right. While MAGA Republicans may be willing to subvert the rule of law and basic American values in order to protect their political interests, we applaud Majority Leader Schumer for leading efforts to reverse the Supreme Court’s ruling that threatens to shake the foundations of our country.”
