Demand Justice Statement on NYT’s Report on Justice Alito and “Stop the Steal” Symbol

WASHINGTON, DC—Following new reporting that a “Stop the Steal” symbol was visible in front of Justice Samuel Alito’s home in January 2021, when the Supreme Court was considering whether to take a 2020 election case, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement:
“Justice Alito, the man who twisted history to justify his dismantling of women’s rights, now blames his wife for dangerous ethics lapses that continue to degrade the public’s respect for the Supreme Court and therefore the stability of the rule of law.
Congress must check this dangerous, extremist Court now and restore all Americans’ faith in the judicial system, which should be a bedrock of our democracy.”
