Washington, DC–In response to the Harris-Walz campaign including support for Supreme Court reform proposals, including ethics reform and term limits, on their website, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement: 

“The Harris-Walz campaign’s support for commonsense court reform proposals–popular with bipartisan majorities–shows a necessary commitment to restoring legitimacy to a broken institution. 

For years, this Supreme Court has been out of step with the American people, issuing rulings that stand in the way of progress and often do direct harm to the public. From ethics scandals to deeply and blatantly partisan rulings, extremist justices have eroded public trust in this institution. The Harris-Walz campaign has proven that they know it is not too late to fix this–to put our democracy, our nation, and our future back on track.”
