Chris Kang: Menashi Vote Will Make Clear Whether GOP Is OK With Trump Cover-up Of Ukraine Call

WASHINGTON, DC—Demand Justice Chief Counsel Christopher Kang released the following statement Wednesday in anticipation of the Senate Judiciary Committee vote to advance the nomination of Steven Menashi, a White House attorney who may have been involved in the coverup of the call between President Trump and the president of Ukraine at the center of the impeachment inquiry, to fill Thurgood Marshall’s seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals:

“Steven Menashi is potentially involved in one of the biggest abuse of power scandals in modern American history. If he can’t tell us whether or not he helped Trump cover up the Ukraine scandal, he shouldn’t be given a lifetime appointment to the court. With this vote, Republican Senators will make clear whether they see helping cover up Trump’s crimes as a problem or a qualification.”
