DEMAND JUSTICE STATEMENT ON BIDEN BREAKING THE RECORD FOR MOST CIRCUIT JUDGES CONFIRMED IN FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE

WASHINGTON, DC— Following news that the Senate has confirmed President Biden’s 13th nominee to a federal circuit court, breaking the record set by President Trump for the number of circuit court judges confirmed in a president’s first year in office, Chief Counsel Christopher Kang released the following statement:

“President Biden’s unparalleled commitment to rebalancing the federal judiciary is paying off when it comes to the critical courts of appeal. To continue to set records in his second year in office, President Biden will need to build on recent progress by nominating judges in states with Republican senators, and he will need Senate Democrats, led by Majority Leader Schumer and Judiciary Chair Durbin, to continue their strong track record of quickly moving his nominees through the confirmation process. This progress should give sitting judges who are eligible to take senior status confidence that they can and should do so as soon as possible to let President Biden appoint their successors this Congress.”
