Demand Justice Releases New Report On MAGA Supreme Court In Advance Of Senate Hearing

Washington, DC–Today Demand Justice released a new report titled Politics Before the American People: The MAGA Court, the latest resource the organization has released on the dangers of extremism on our courts, in advance of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing next week on the Supreme Court’s dangerous presidential immunity ruling. The report calls attention to the MAGA justices’ flagrant disregard for ethical guidelines and rulings from the past term that show these extremist justices have clearly put partisan allegiance over the American people.
The report follows a new story in the New York Times revealing Chief Justice Roberts’ efforts to shape outcomes in cases that ultimately benefited Donald Trump.
The report explains: “The most recent term only further underscored the deep politicalization at the heart of the Court–and how that corruption is bleeding not only into the justice’s decision-making but into the very functioning of the Court itself.”
It goes on to say: “Examining what were considered the “major” cases of the past term demonstrates that the Court overwhelmingly delivered at least a partial victory for MAGA interests. And when it came to election-related cases and cases directly related to former Trump, the Court ruled in lockstep with those interests.”
The report ends by calling for reforms to the Supreme Court with urgency: “Simply put, our current Supreme Court is one that can’t be trusted to do its job in a fair and unbiased manner… the Constitution gives Congress the power to make sure that the Supreme Court actually serves the people and not themselves.”
