Washington, DC–On Monday, Senate Democrats worked late into the evening, pushing through nine cloture filings on judicial nominees all while facing blatant Republican obstructionism in the form of forced procedural votes. Following this effort from Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats, Demand Justice Managing Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement:

“Last night, Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats fought hard to move forward President Biden’s remaining judicial nominees. Time is precious, and maximizing it by scheduling votes late into the evening, even while Republican Senators attempted, in bad faith, to slow them down, is heartening to see. With 28 nominees in limbo, including four circuit court nominees, this type of momentum is critical. Every judge confirmed could make a difference in the well-being and rights of the American people.”

As of Tuesday morning, there are 28 nominees in limbo, 16 awaiting Senate floor action, and 12 awaiting Senate Judiciary Committee action.
