Demand Justice Praises Schiff And Raskin’s Shadow Hearing On Trump Administration’s Lawlessness

Washington, DC– On Monday, Senator Adam Schiff and Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, as well as other Democratic members of the House and Senate, will hold a bicameral spotlight hearing focused on the attacks by President Trump and his allies against lawyers, law firms and the courts. The hearing, titled “Restoring Accountability: Exposing Trump’s Attacks on the Rule of Law”, will feature witnesses who can speak to the administration’s attacks on the rule of law. 

This week, the Republican led House Judiciary and Senate Judiciary Committees both held hearings on judges ability to issue nationwide injunctions, with Republicans trying to distract from the blatantly illegal actions of the Trump administration that these injunctions have often halted.

In advance of the hearing, Demand Justice Interim Executive Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement: 

“This hearing is exactly the kind of momentum we need to see right now from our elected officials to counter the attacks from Trump, Musk and their allies on our legal system. While MAGA Republicans hold sham hearings going after judges and their ability to halt the Trump administration’s lawless and radical agenda, those who care about our democracy need to focus on what is really happening: a full-scale and targeted attempt to erode the rule of law and distort the scales of justice in our nation. Being in the minority does not mean action is impossible.
