DEMAND JUSTICE LAUNCHES TRUMP NOMINEE TRACKER TO MONITOR EXTREMIST JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Demand Justice is launching the Trump Nominee Tracker, a comprehensive resource dedicated to monitoring and making accessible information about President Trump’s extreme, loyalist judicial nominees.
The launch of this tracker comes after the White House’s announcement last night with Trump’s first slate of judicial nominations—many who have documented histories of advocating for dangerous and radical policies.
From day one, Trump and his allies have systematically undermined the judiciary, publicly attacking judges, defying court orders, and advancing legislation that would undermine the courts’ role in our constitutional system of checks and balances. This ongoing assault on judicial independence poses a direct threat to the rule of law and the rights of every person in this country.
The extreme backgrounds of these initial nominees clearly signal Trump’s intent to continue to transform the federal judiciary into another arm of the MAGA movement by appointing loyalist judges who will rubber stamp his most controversial and lawless policies. All five Article III nominees in this first slate spent time in their careers working for right-wing state attorneys general; these state AGs have aggressively used their offices to advance the MAGA agenda and, in one case, even to protect Trump himself from legal accountability.
In response to these nominations, Demand Justice Interim Executive Director Maggie Jo Buchanan released the following statement:
“Trump’s first slate of nominees is exactly what we predicted–it includes loyalists who have a proven record of advocating for the kinds of radical policies featured in the Project 2025 agenda. While Trump and his allies continue to attack fair-minded jurists, he is also going after the independence of our courts by appointing politically motivated lawyers who will greenlight his extreme agenda from the bench.
“Demand Justice is committed to tracking every Trump nominee’s extremist record and conflicts of interest. We will expose these nominees for what they are: a critical part of the far-right’s coordinated attack on our system of checks and balances. At this moment in our democracy, rubber stamping any judicial nominee is not only foolish but deeply dangerous.”
