Washington, DC –Today, Demand Justice announced a new six-figure ad campaign in Illinois and Delaware calling out Senator Durbin and Senator Coons for their inexcusable votes in favor of Trump’s judicial nominees.
As Donald Trump weaponizes the Department of Justice and uses the federal courts to prosecute his political enemies, Senators Durbin, Coons, Klobuchar, Schiff, Welch, and Whitehouse voted on Wednesday to advance at least one Trump judicial nominee. Every one of Trump’s nominees has refused to tell the truth about who won the 2020 election or what happened on January 6, 2021 — demonstrating loyalty to Trump as a condition of their nomination.
The ads will read: “Sen. Durbin/Coons voted for a Trump judge who peddles Trump’s lies about the 2020 election and Jan 6th. What is Sen. Durbin/Coons thinking?”
“Donald Trump is weaponizing the Department of Justice and the federal courts against his political enemies,” said Demand Justice President Josh Orton. “So Democratic Senators must do more than just denounce Trump’s actions in front of cameras and on social media – they have to do their job and vote against Trump’s judges. And if Democratic Senators don’t plant their feet and demonstrate steadfast opposition, Demand Justice will hold them accountable.”
