DEMAND JUSTICE LAUNCHES BILLBOARD AD CAMPAIGN THANKING SENS. RICHARD BLUMENTHAL AND CHRIS MURPHY

WASHINGTON, DC—On Thursday, Demand Justice announced a billboard ad campaign in Connecticut thanking Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy for recommending Judges Sarah Merriam and Omar Williams for President Biden’s nomination to the federal bench. Both of these nominees have now been confirmed by the Senate.

“By recommending Judges Merriam and Williams, both of whom are excellent judges with experience as public defenders, Senators Blumenthal and Murphy have demonstrated their support for President Biden’s commitment to diversifying the bench,” said Demand Justice Chief Counsel Christopher Kang. 

“These two judges bring a wealth of experience fighting for the rights of individuals instead of corporations or the government. Prior to this fall, Connecticut had not had a federal district judge with public defender experience in nearly 60 years, and now it has two, including the first former public defender of color to ever serve on this court.”
