Demand Justice Ad Thanks Schumer for Rejecting Deals on Trump Judges

New York Times Ad Will Mark One Year of Democrats Refusing to Approve Packages of Trump Judicial Nominees

WASHINGTON, DC—On Friday, Demand Justice applauded Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer for refusing to accept a deal with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that would have fast-tracked confirmation of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees.

“As Trump and McConnell fill our courts with right-wing ideologues, it is imperative that Democrats do everything in their power to fight back. At the end of this year, Leader Schumer stood strong against any deals that would have surrendered to the swift confirmation of even more of Trump’s nominees. We appreciate Democrats taking a tough stand on this issue,” said Brian Fallon, Executive Director of Demand Justice.

It has been more than a year since Senate Democrats last agreed to a unanimous consent package allowing Republicans to confirm multiple Trump judges at once.

Democrats’ refusal to fast-track Trump’s judicial nominees came in the same week that Schumer demanded a fair and thorough impeachment hearing that allows for the Senate to hear from key Trump administration witnesses.

The half-page ad below will run in the print edition of The New York Times on Monday.
